Armed group kill TNI soldier in Puncak Jaya

The incident occurred after the Indonesian Military (TNI) shot and killed a gunmen and confiscated his firearm in Pintu Angin, Mulia subdistrict, Puncak Jaya.
"A soldier with the Indonesian Military [TNI] was shot to death by an armed group when he was with police officers heading to the crime scene," Papua military commander Maj. Gen. Zebua told the state-run Antara news agency.
The soldier, First Private Sugiartu, was escorting the Puncak Jaya Military commander, the Puncak Jaya Police chief and the commander of raider battalion to Pintu Angin, the location of the previous shooting when an armed group attacked the company, killing Sugiartu.
Police said that the group, thought to be separatists, was led by a man named Yambi – the leader of a local faction of the Free Papua Organization (OPM).
"The remains of First Private Sugiarto arrived at Mulia hospital at 12:00 p.m.,," Brig. Gen. Andhika Perkasa, a spokesman for the army, said as quoted by Detik.com. "The security operation is being continued by a joint team from the army to chase down the radical group in Puncak Jaya."
