PSM 6 actually arrested under ISA, EO is just a hoodwink

Malaysian Socialist Party (PSM) Press Statement - July 6, 2011

This afternoon, PSM learned that the PSM EO detainees were blindfolded and they were given numbers similar to ISA detainees. They were told that from now, they will called just by their numbers and not their names. When questioned, they were told that this is the ISA arrest procedure.

Besides that, they are kept in solitary confinement. Though the family members were notified upon the arrest that they will be kept in lock-up Bukit Aman but now it appears that they are kept in a secret location. Most probably they are kept in Police remand centre (PRC) in Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, KL.

All this indication clearly show that the 6 are subjected to the ISA style arrest and not EO. Under EO arrest, detainees are not blind-folded and are kept in District police lock-ups. Bukit Aman and PRC have solitary confinement and are used to detain ISA detainees for the first 60 days.

PSM calls upon the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to stop all this manipulations and immediately release the EO six. This morning also, Filipino's Romeo Castillo who was detained had been cleared of all charges and deported. Before him another "foreign agent" Song Min-young, a Korean intern was also deported last Friday without any charge. Now it is clear that the foreign element threat said by the Deputy IGP and the built-up given by UMNO mouthpiece, Utusan Malaysia is just hollow allegations. All the foreign agents linked to PSM and foreign elements have been released without any charge.

Udahlah... stop the charade. End the illegal detention
