PAS spoils it for PSM in Kota Damansara
Malaysian Times - April 22, 2013
PSM chairman Dr Nasir Hashim said, the party is offended by Hadi Awang's statement and wants a clarification on whom he was referring to. "We want a clarification from Hadi Awang's on who he actually meant in his statement and if he meant PSM then he should show proof," he said.
Nasir said Hadi Awang is using religion as a political agenda and it is not a right thing to do. "When it comes to election, people turn into monsters and they do not know what they are doing. We know how to fight the enemy but we don't know how to fight with our friend," he stressed.
Meanwhile, party secretary-general S Arutchelvan said, it is not about religion but it is a gimmick by PAS to get the seat.
During 2008 election Nasir contested under the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) banner, and defeated Datuk Zein Ismail of BN by a majority votes of 1,075.
The Kota Damansara state seat will witness a six-cornered fight involving Nasir under the PR banner, Ahmad Nawawi of BN, Ridzuan Ismail of PAS, and three independents, Edros Abdullah, A Suppiah and Halmi Omar.
On the entry of a PAS candidate for the Kota Damansara constituency, Nasir said that "We are the incumbents, and there are the spoilers." "We are the ones who contested this seat in past election and we will continue our fight here," he added.
Commenting on this, Arutchelvan said that the PSM was surprised with the Ridzuan's candidacy. "As we discussed earlier, the seat allocation issues have been solved. But PAS fielding a candidate for Kota Damansara is surprising. We want them to clarify this issue as well," he said.
Arutchelvan said that, the PAS by fielding its own candidate to go against Nasir, shows that PR is not united. "This generally will affect Pakatan's chances and will only favour BN," Arutchelvan said. He said that the PR should resolve the seat allocation issue.
PAS will be having a closed meeting today to discuss Ridzuan's candidacy in Kota Damansara.
