Reports say 100s of Tibetans protest in China
Associated Press - October 2, 2011
Radio Free Asia said Sunday that the protest happened after officials took down a Tibetan flag and picture of the exiled Dalai Lama on Saturday, the 62nd anniversary of communist rule.
A notice on a website of the Tibet government in exile said the protest was in Seda city in Sichuan province. It had no further details. The area was hit by unrest after deadly riots rocked Tibet's capital Lhasa in March 2008.
Late last month two Tibetan monks set themselves on fire to protest China's tight rein over Buddhist practices in another area of Sichuan. They were rescued by police and had slight burns.
